The Department of Energy & Environment is hosting a launch party and panel discussion to kick off the update of the District's sustainability plan - Sustainable DC 2.0 - and to release the 2017 Sustainable DC progress report. DOEE Director Tommy Wells will deliver opening remarks and reflect on the last five years since the plan was developed. A lively panel discussion on the future of sustainability in the District will follow. We hope to see you there!

A native of Massachusetts, he lived in California and New York before settling in the Dupont Circle neighborhood with his wife, Stefanie. David has a B.A. in Computer Science from Harvard and worked for Tellme Networks and Google before following his passion and advocating for ways to make the Washington, DC area even greater than it is. He was recently named one of Washingtonian Magazine's 40 under 40 influential people in the Washington region for 2017.

Harriet Tregoning is the immediate past Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development. Her work at HUD encompassed helping states, regions, cities, counties and towns across the country build a strong foundation for resilience in the face of a changing climate, and for a diverse and prosperous economy based on enhancing community quality of place, economic opportunity, fiscal stability, transportation choice, and affordability. Tregoning was previously Director of the District of Columbia Office of Planning, where she worked to make DC a walkable, bikeable, eminently livable, globally competitive and thriving city. Prior to this she was the Director of the Governors’ Institute on Community Design, co-founded with former Maryland Governor Glendening. She served Governor Glendening as Secretary of Planning in Maryland. Prior to her tenure in Maryland state government, Tregoning was the Director of Development, Community and Environment at the United States Environmental Protection Agency. She was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2004.
The Nature Conservancy MD/DC Chapter Urban Conservation Director
Kahlil Kettering is the Urban Conservation Director for the MD/DC Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. He has been with TNC for two years developing their new urban conservation strategy in DC that is centered on implementing projects that elevate the intersection of quality of life in urban communities and the benefits nature provides to people in cities. His work focuses on the ability to achieve environmental conservation outcomes through private equity investments via the new Stormwater Retention Credit market in DC, strategic tree canopy expansion and maintenance for the benefit of nature and human well-being, and engaging and training young people as environmental advocates for the future. Before moving back to his hometown of Washington, DC, Kahlil worked as an environmental analyst in Miami, Florida advocating for the protection and restoration of Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. He has a master’s degree in Global Environmental Policy from American University and a master’s degree in Public Management from the University of Maryland.
Managing Partner/Principal Planning Manager of Nspiregreen LLC
Veronica O. Davis, PE is a transportation nerd who uses her knowledge to spark progressive social change in the community. Currently, she is a co-owner and Principal Planning Manager at Nspiregreen LLC. In July 2012, the White House recognized her as a Champion of Change and Transportation Innovator for her professional accomplishments and community advocacy in the District of Columbia. Veronica is one of the co-founders of Black Women Bike (BWB), an organization and movement that encourages African American women to use biking for health and wellness as well as an alternative form of transportation for commuting. She holds a dual Masters Degrees (Engineering Management and Regional Planning) from Cornell University and a B.S in civil engineering from the University of Maryland. She is a registered professional engineer in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.
